myvidoop: privacy policy

It looks like myvidoop is serious about data privacy. Here is what in their web site I copied today:

Privacy Policy

Vidoop is committed to helping you control your online identity and personal information. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Vidoop does not own or control, or to people that Vidoop does not employ or manage.

A. Personal Information

Vidoop cares about the privacy of our users. By agreeing to the terms of service, you are consenting to submitting your personal information to our central system in the United States.

Vidoop will not submit individual user information to any third party, except when required by law or explicitly permitted by that individual user.

Vidoop is an online identity provider. Therefore, we store and transmit personal information to third parties as directed by users. By using this service, you explicitly permit Vidoop to submit your individual user identification information to third parties as directed by you.

Vidoop does collect demographic information, including without limitation, zip codes, gender, IP addresses, internet service providers, referring vendors, and browser identification. By agreeing to the terms of service, the user consents to the disclosure of this information for limited purposes such as providing this information to advertisers and improving the service provided by the Site to users.

B. Cookies

Vidoop may send one or more cookies – a small file containing a string of characters – to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We use cookies to improve the quality and security of our service by tracking user trends. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some Vidoop features and services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

C. Private Information

Your information is stored on our servers located in the United States. We treat data as an asset that must be protected and use lots of tools (encryption, access codes, physical security, etc.) to protect your personal information against unauthorized access and disclosure. Third parties do exist that attempt to intercept or access transmissions and private communications. We work to minimize these threats using additional and better tools than other identity providers; yet we cannot eliminate the existence of third parties who may be able to penetrate even the best systems.
